SAIL Youth Happenings
Happy 2018! After a busy fall and holiday season, we’re ready to hunker down and get into action in the new year.
Our young people were so helpful in many ways during the holiday season at Normandy – setting up the Bazaar, decorating the sanctuary, assisting with the Birthday Party for Jesus, caroling to assisted living residents and being all-around great kids. Give them a hearty ‘thanks’ when you see them!
We’re looking forward to a brand-new year full of activities and blessings. Our regular Sunday evening meetings resume on January 14th with our Second Sunday Supper. On January 7 the youth will be assisting with putting away the Christmas decorations along with the Altar Guild and Boy Scouts.
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that we’re slowing down — Bring your extra change on Sunday, Feb. 4 as the Youth celebrate the Souper Bowl of Caring day! The kids will be around the church with their stockpots ready to be filled for local mission. Proceeds will all go to BOGG Ministries – a local mobile food bank that provides groceries to those in need throughout the year. Our youth participate in their grocery delivery a few times a year, and the UMM are active supporters of this ministry. The great part about Souper Bowl of Caring is that all the funds stay in our community! Thank you for support!
There are several things that we’re looking forward to in the coming months – participating in the 30-Hour Famine with World Vision, and planning a Student Life Camp in the beautiful Smoky Mountains over the summer!
Have a very Happy New Year!
