We look forward to meeting you!
Whether you are curious or seriously seeking a “church home,” you will be welcome at Normandy United Methodist Church (“Normandy”). We are glad you have chosen to visit our website. We want to introduce you to some of the things we believe make Normandy special. We also want to mention a few things that will make your first visit to our church most enjoyable.
Normandy is a United Methodist Church open to all people seriously interested in considering, beginning, or continuing a journey in the Christian faith. No matter where you are on your faith journey, we would like to be your partner to give you the tools, courage, and support to help you move further along your path. We believe that every faith journey has four core elements: WORSHIP, SERVE, LEARN, and CONNECT. We have organized our website so that you can easily find the programs and activities we have in each of these four core areas. Regardless of your age, interests, talents, or concerns, we believe we have something to offer you.
While there are many opportunities at our church to worship, serve, learn, and connect, here are four things that help make Normandy special.
Outstanding Worship Experiences
At Normandy, you can expect a worship experience featuring an inspiring message and specially chosen music from excellent musicians. Our 9:30 and 11:00 traditional Sunday services surround these two elements with a traditional liturgy offered in a traditional setting. Our 9:30 Anchor Sunday service features more contemporary music and frequent use of different media in a more informal setting. These two worship experiences allow you to choose the one that suits you and other members of your family best! For more information, go to Worship.
Excellent Music Ministries
Music provides an awe-inspiring dimension to all of Normandy’s worship experiences. Musical performances are also an important part of many fellowship gatherings throughout the year. For our trained musicians and volunteers, our Music Ministry provides a great opportunity to serve the church while connecting with others having similar interests. With children, youth, and adult opportunities you’re sure to find a fit in the music ministry. For more information, go to Music Ministry.
Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry
We make ministry to children and youth a high priority. We want them to experience the love, acceptance, and forgiveness of Jesus every time they attend an activity. We love working with young people, making sure they have positive experiences at church. Ultimately, we want to see them grow to be healthy, successful, and spiritually mature. To do this, we offer them age appropriate opportunities to Serve, Learn, and Connect. For more information, go to Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry.
Visiting Us on Sunday
Arrival and Parking
Our unique building and grounds may seem confusing at first! Arriving 15 minutes early will make things easier. The best parking for worship services is in the larger upper lot in front of the church along Alex-Bell Road. We have set aside some special Visitor parking spaces just for you! Handicap parking is available in the circle directly in front of the church doors. If the upper lot is full when you arrive, please exit the upper lot, turn left onto Alex-Bell Road, re-enter the church grounds, and then turn right to park in the lower lot behind the church. After entering the building through the lower level doors, look for signs directing you to the elevator. Take the elevator to the second floor for the Fellowship Hall. If you are headed to the Main Sanctuary, walk through the Fellowship Hall, up the ramp, turn left and follow the hallway to the Main Sanctuary and the Welcome Center kiosk (posted signs will also show you the way).
The Welcome Center
Our Welcome Center kiosk is immediately in front of you when you enter through the doors under the green NORMANDY CHURCH SANCTUARY canopy shown above. Volunteers are ready to answer your questions before and after each service. If you need to find the Coat Room, Traditional Worship Service, The Anchor Contemporary Service, Sunday School, Nursery, or Restrooms, just ask the friendly volunteer who will take you to where you need to go. Our building is actually three connected buildings, so a little help is often needed.
Dropping off Children at the Nursery
On Sunday mornings, our Nursery cares for infants and children, up to age 3, of parents attending worship services or adult Sunday School. The Nursery includes an open playroom shown on the right, games, toys, puzzles, a restroom suitable for toddlers, changing areas, and cribs. If you drop off little ones in our nursery, you will receive a vibrating pager in case you are needed.
What do I wear?
At the Anchor Service, dress is casual. Very few men wear coats and ties. Business casual is the norm. At the traditional service, about half the men wear coat and tie. Business dress is also the norm.
Where are the restrooms?
There are restrooms located in the Welcome Center outside the Main Sanctuary and in the hallway at the rear of the Fellowship Hall. There are children’s restrooms in the Children’s Sunday School area.
Are visitors singled out during worship?
No, while we make every effort to warmly welcome all who attend our services, there is no special effort to point out visitors. We encourage visitors to register their attendance at the Welcome Center. We encourage everyone to register their attendance on the red attendance pads in the pews so that people can meet and greet their neighbors at the worship services.
Can I participate in Holy Communion if I am not a member?
Here at Normandy, we offer an open Holy Communion experience. This means that you don’t have to be a member, you don’t have to be a United Methodist, and there is no social category that prevents you from participating in receiving this sacrament at Normandy. All we ask is that those who participate be seeking a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
If I have additional questions, whom should I contact?
