Lead Pastor Jerry Wiles
I am very excited about the future of Normandy United Methodist Church and believe it will become a church that makes a difference in the lives of the people of Southwestern Ohio. God has given us a big dream for making a significant impact on the people of Centerville and the Dayton area. Our vision is to become a church that provides meaningful, relevant worship that enables people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the presence of God in their life. We are striving to become a church that not only introduces people to Jesus, but also empowers them to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Normandy Church is striving to be the kind of church where you are genuinely known and loved; where people can find answers to their common struggles, hurts and needs; and where the Biblical principles that are needed to make your way in today’s world are taught and lived. To make this vision a reality we are in need of persons to join us in the exciting task of building a strong, healthy church that truly makes a difference in people’s lives.
My Call to Normandy UMC:
I grew up in New Carlisle, Ohio, which is just north of Dayton, Ohio, but spent the past 30 years as a pastor in Northwest and Central Ohio. My wife, Mary Lou has worked as a pharmacist for 30 years and we have two children. My son Alex is married and currently serving as the Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green, Ohio. My daughter Amy is completing her final year of Doctorate of Pharmacy studies from Ohio Northern University. Our desire to reach people with the unconditional love of Jesus Christ is a result of experiencing God’s loving power at major turning points in our lives.
In the life of our family we have experienced some tragic and difficult circumstances, but throughout those times, we have felt the loving presence of Jesus and have been strengthened by being part of the church. In the midst of these struggles, God laid a burden on our hearts to reach out to those who need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. That is why we are here. We want others to know the love of Jesus Christ and feel the peace and power of God that comes from being one of His disciple.

Dr. Brian Cashwell, Music Accompanist
Brian has a doctorate in piano performance from The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, a masters in music from the University of Georgia, and a bachelor of music from Florida State University. He is currently serving as a piano instructor, jazz piano instructor, and accompanist at Wright State University, where he also teaches classic piano, jazz history, jazz improvisation, and world music courses. He is the jazz piano instructor at Central State University, and applied piano instructor at The University of Dayton. In the summers, he also performs as a guest artist for the Miami Valley Jazz Camp. Equally at home in both the jazz and classical idioms, he maintains an active schedule performing in a variety of musical roles. He has a son, Evan.
Rick Lewis, Director of Music Ministry and Youth
Rick attended his first choir rehearsal when he was 2 months old and has not stopped since. Thanks to talented parents and terrific music teachers and mentors, he has been led to directing and creating choral, handbell, and musical groups as a ministry in the church. God opened the opportunity for him to serve at Normandy in 1998 as handbell director and in 2001 as choir and music director. He reminds us that we are commanded by scripture to sing and make a joyful noise to the Lord. From timeless hymns to newer choral works and modern music, there is a song for everyone to sing – whether you sing along or sing in your heart as you listen. A favorite verse is from Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus; “… Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:18b-20.) We strive for excellence in all things, and all things to God’s glory!
Rick took the position of Youth Director in the spring of 2016. Having always enjoyed working with kids and loving their enthusiasm and energy, he brings his own version of that to our youth. Using 1 Timothy 4:12 as a guiding verse, our youth are active in service at Normandy, in our community, and around the world through mission projects such as 30-Hour Famine, Operation Christmas Child, and other opportunities. Working with various mission/outreach teams of the church they regularly participate in local programs assisting young and old in our community. In-depth Bible study and numerous fun activities fill Sunday evening Youth Fellowship time (Sept-June). Any youth from 6 th – 12 th grade are welcome! “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

Amy Reese, Director of Children's Ministries
Amy and her husband Tim have been members of Normandy for 21 years. Their children Brandon, Jordan and Hannah have grown up at Normandy and now attend college. Amy joined the staff in 2004 as the Director of Children’s Ministries and has enjoyed watching the children grow in their faith and love of God. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13. Email Amy at email@example.com.
Nicole Tracey, Nursery Provider
Nicole has worked in the Nursery on Sunday mornings since 2002. She loves watching and meeting new children to whom she can become a role model. She says that the only hard part of her job is watching the children move onto the next class room. The hardest part of her job is letting go. She attended Cincinnati State to achieve a CDA in early childhood education. She is married and lives in Monroe, OH. She has four lovely kids of her own, and a step-son who lives in FL. She also currently has a dog named Chloe. She lives by the Bible verse from Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
Chris Eddington, Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator
Chris is a graduate of Wright State University with a BA in History. He earned his Master’s degree in Information Science from Kent State University. An employee of Normandy since 2012, Chris has been a member of the church for over 30 years. He has a wife, Sarah, and two young children who keep him busy. Though a church is not defined by its facility, Chris is passionate about the Normandy building and it’s historical significance. His favorite bible verse is Matthew 6:25-27-“…Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
