Our “SUNDAES ON SUNDAY” program will be held on August 20 in the Fellowship Hall between services and after the second service. Sign-ups for these activities will be available on that day. You are all invited to enjoy a sundae as you learn about the various adult education offerings for the fall season. They are as follows:
Disciple I: 34 opportunities to reacquaint yourself with the Bible’s path for your life. This class will be led by Chris Mills.
Disciple III: An in-depth look at the prophets and Paul’s letters. This class will be led by Wylie Edington.
Psalms – A Short Term Disciple Class: Mike Ratcliff will lead this 10-week study on Psalms. The class will begin Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m. with the last session just before Thanksgiving. It will be held in the Music Room. The cost will be $15 per person. There is a possibility that this class will also be offered on Thursday mornings, finishing in time for “Thursdays at Normandy” if there are enough sign-ups. Signups will begin August 6 in the Hallway Happenings Area.
How to use the Bible as your GPS for life
This class will be held from 7:00 TO 9:00 on Monday evenings beginning in September. Date to be announced.
SUMMER AND FALL HIKES:
Woodland Cemetery – Marilyn Williams has made arrangements for a hike at Woodland Cemetery to be led by one of their representatives on August 19 from 10:00-11:30 am. She will also share some points of interest with us which will not be included on the tour.
The Old and New Centerville Cemeteries: Marilyn will lead a tour of these cemeteries and share some of the history of Centerville as she discusses facts about early Centerville settlers who are buried there. This hike will be in October, date to be determined.
ENRICHING YOUR FAITH JOURNEY:
This class will begin again for the second year after Labor Day. We most likely will continue to meet on Fridays at 10 a.m. in the Crafts Room, but details will be announced later. This class will be led by Miami Valley District certified deacon candidate Patricia Friel, who is in her third year at Methodist Theological School of Ohio (MTSO) in Delaware, OH. The goal of this class is to deepen and enrich participants’ knowledge about and experiences with the United Methodist Church and the Christian faith by exploring a range of topics, such as Christian history, missions, theology, ethics, creation, and Scripture. Adults of all ages are welcome for this interactive class, including varied class activities or field trips. Classes are held from September through May, except for those falling on major holidays or Emmaus Walk weekends.
OTHER GROUP SIGN-UPS:
There are other possibilities for fellowship and learning. Last year several new groups were formed, as an example – the Movie-going Group led by Harold and Norma Stockman. Would you be interested joining this group or forming a new group centered around one of your interests – a favorite book or lesson? We will do the publicity and back you up. E-mail email@example.com any new ideas you may have.
Representatives for each of these enriching experiences will be in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, August 20 between the 9:30 and 11:00 services.
Come enjoy a sundae and chat with us as you choose which activity interests you.
We hope to see you there!
