WOW!! God is great! That’s the first thing that came to mind after our Café night in April! This one was different than the others we have done as it was a fundraiser for upcoming youth mission projects. It came together rather quickly after looking at the calendar and checking schedules. We were in the throes of the Lenten season, moving head-first into Easter and I had planned to be out of town the entire week prior to the big night. (I know, right?!) Reservations were slow to come in and I left town wondering if we were going to pull this off. All throughout the week Theresa sent me emails; “add 3”, “add 6”, “add 5”, “add 4”, and on it went.
We ended up with 128 for dinner, 12 kids and several parents helping set-up, serve, and clean up, and you gave nearly $1,400! THANK YOU SO MUCH! We have terrific, talented, and hard-working kids and your support of our programs is very much appreciated. Special thanks to my mom, Linda Ferguson, who worked hard preparing and pulling apart over 50 lbs. of pork! (Pay attention kids-you’re never too old for mom’s help!)
We will be working in several local mission activities both within and outside of Normandy over the summer. Keep an eye out in this space and the bulletin boards to see how we are serving!
On May 20, we will have a special Senior Dinner for our graduates and their families. So many of us have watched these young people grow into the fine young people we see today, and I know you join us as we wish them the very best as they embark on a new adventure in their lives. Eugene Peterson’s The Message paraphrases Proverbs 22:6 this way: Point your kids in the right direction – when they’re old, they won’t be lost. My prayer for the graduates is that they always focus on the right direction with God as their guide. I wish you the best, and my advice to you is just as Abraham Lincoln said, “Whatever you are, be a good one.”
